It was no surprise that he followed in his father Norman's footsteps, and began performing stunts at only five years-old. Moving from his hometown of Austin, TX to Southern California, Howell appeared in Dances With Wolves, Wyatt Erp, and Live Wire with Pierce Bronson, and quickly made a name for himself as a talented, young stunt person. Howell's stunts were also featured in the major blockbuster successes Pearl Harbor and American Wedding. Despite his achievements in the stunt world, Kanin Howell's true passion remained with acting. Closely working with renowned acting coach Dee Wallace Stone, Howell was able to hone his acting skills and soon nabbed roles in the historic drama The Patriot, starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger and Secondhand Lions with Michael Caine and Robert Duvall. He has since had the privilege of working alongside other Hollywood heavyweights including Kevin Bacon, Dennis Hopper, Kyra Sedgwick, and Christian Slater, among others.
