Date of Birth 29 April 1975, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Height 5' 9" (1.75 m) Mini Biography April Telek was born and raised on the North Shore of Vancouver, British Columbia. She began working as a model locally at ten years of age, before traveling to Tokyo, Japan at the age of 13. During her four years in Japan, she pursued her modeling career, winning the Shiseido Cosmetics contract for Asia from 1989-1990. April represented Canada under the title of Miss Canada 1994 in several International pageants including Miss Top Model of the World (Istanbul, Turkey), Miss Asia Pacific Quest, (Manilla, Philippines), and Miss Globe (St. Pettersburg) Shortly after her return to Canada, she began working as a professional film and television actress. April has since starred or guest-starred in over 40 film or television projects including a regular role on "The Immortal" (2000) as Dr. Sara Beckman and guest roles on "First Wave" (1998), "Special Unit 2" (2001), "The Outer Limits" (1995) and two episodes of "Millennium" (1996/I), including the pilot episode "Who Cares?". April was also the Supporting Lead in Freeway II: Confessions of a Trickbaby (1999). After landing her first modeling gig at the age of ten, April quickly realized her love for the camera. At the age of twelve, April began studying with acting coach June Whitaker who has worked with such celebrities as Jason Priestley, Christianne Hirt and Ian Tracey. Soon after, she landed the role of "Alice" in a professional production of "Alice in Wonderland". While growing up as a child actor and international model, April was enrolled in a "Super Achievers" program designed specifically for kids with professional careers in school. Upon graduation, she decided to commit herself full time to "the craft" and hasn't stopped working since. In 1994, April went on to win the title of "Miss Canada", which took her to 17 international competitions, including "Miss Asia Pacific" in the Philippines, and "Miss Top Model of the World" in Istanbul, Turkey. She has also had the honour of being titled "Hottest Canadian Talent" on the web and was voted "First Wave Babe of the Month" on more than one occasion. April's longevity as a film and television actor has led her to work on numerous projects over the years. She has worked with some of Hollywood's top A-List talent in feature films such as, Gray Matters (2006/I) (Heather Graham, Molly Shannon), Two for the Money (2005) (Al Pacino, Matthew McConaughey) and White Noise (2005/I) (Michael Keaton), just to name a few. Her other feature film lead roles include Insight Film Studios horror The Brotherhood IV: The Complex (2005) (V) as "Captain Arabella Morrissey", Love Affair (1994) and Iceberg Pictures comedy Man Without a Name (2004). April's television credits include, starring in the television series "The Immortal" (2000) as "Dr. Sara Beckman" with Lorenzo Lamas and CTV's Canadian hit show "Robson Arms" (2005) for the past two seasons as "Sasha". Her most recent television guest appearances include "Aliens in America" (2007) for The CW and ABC's "Men in Trees" (2006). April's other supporting television roles include A&E's Emmy Award-winning MOW Flight 93 (2006) (TV) where she played "Liz Glyk", the wife of one of the heroes/passengers on the ill-fated United Flight 93 that met its demise on September 11th. Her other recurring and guest star roles include, "Beggars and Choosers" (1999), "Stargate SG-1" (1997), "The L Word" (2004), "Young Blades" (2005) and CTV's "Whistler" (2006). Despite her hectic schedule between acting and being a mom, April is on the board of directors for the Lions Gate Hospice Society. She became passionate about the Hospice Society when her aunt was diagnosed with a terminal illness and passed away at St. James Cottage Hospice in Vancouver. April is very involved in the capital campaign to raise funds for the first free-standing hospice on the North Shore. April is also involved with her church's outreach program for the Downtown Eastside and supports The Canadian National Institute for the Blind and Canuck Place charities. Currently, April resides on the North Shore in her recently designed and renovated home with her one year old daughter Ava Marie. When she is not acting, she can be found traveling, salmon or deep sea fishing, and designing semi-precious pieces for "Stoned", a jewellery line that April and her mother Jacklynne began in 2004.
