Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is a young girl who has recently moved to an old house with her parents. She feels lonely and isolated in her new home, and her parents are too busy to pay her much attention. One day, Coraline discovers a secret door in her living room. When she opens the door, she finds a parallel world that is a mirror image of her own, but much better. The other world has a warm and loving mother (Teri Hatcher) and father (John Hodgman), and Coraline's other self (also Dakota Fanning) is happy and carefree. Coraline is drawn to the other world, but she soon realizes that it is not as perfect as it seems. The other mother is actually a cruel and manipulative creature who wants to keep Coraline in her world forever. Coraline must use all her courage to escape the other mother's clutches and return to her own world. Coraline is a dark and fantastical story about the importance of family and the power of imagination. The film is beautifully animated and features some truly memorable characters. Coraline is a must-see for fans of stop-motion animation and dark fantasy.
