In the near future, people can buy artificial cat ears that allow them to experience the emotions of cats. A high school girl named Miyo "Muge" Sasaki has always felt like an outsider, and she uses her cat ears to transform into a cat named "Taro" in order to be more expressive and to connect with her classmates. When Muge's family moves to a new town, she meets a mysterious boy named Kento Hinode, who is able to see her even when she is in cat form. Muge and Kento start to develop a close bond, and Muge eventually learns that Kento is also hiding a secret. The two of them work together to help each other face their problems, and they eventually find a way to be themselves without having to hide.
