Description

When a former pop music star, Johnny Boz, is found dead in his home, brutally murdered with an ice pick, San Francisco detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) is called in to investigate. Nick is a self-destructive, psychological ticking time bomb...a reformed alcoholic and drug addict who carries the nickname "Shooter," for accidentally killing two tourists while on duty. He's just managed to put his life back together, with the caring help of police psychologist and pat-time lover Beth Garner (Jeanne Tripplehorn), when the sexy Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) is brought in for questioning. Catherine is a brilliant, successful writer who described the same exact murder in one of her novels. She was also the last person to be seen Johnny alive. So she volunteers to take a lie detector test to clear her name and passes. But Nick doubts the results. As beautiful as she is manipulative, Catherine uses her sexuality to control the investigation and get what she wants. And what she wants is Nick.
